Bells Field Recreational Park, Coleford
The Bells Field project is a transformation of an old grammar school field into a new all activity park for the residents of Coleford. Afan Landscapes were appointed as Principal Contractor to carry out the construction and long term aftercare of the scheme.
A Beautiful, Accessible Space for all at the Heart of the Community
In 2017 Coleford Council agreed to the transformation of an old grammar school field into an activity park for the local area. A new housing development had recently been built in the vicinity, and the park was to provide outdoor space and activities for people of all ages.
Afan Landscapes were contracted as the principal contractor to carry out the transformation, as well as being responsible for the long-term aftercare of the project.
The vision was to incorporate physical and cultural activity spaces that all members of the family from the local area and beyond could enjoy.
Incorporated into the 1 hectare site were:
- A skate park and bike pump track
- A multi-use games area with all-weather pitch laid and sports lighting for evening use
- A wildlife garden
- A 60+ seater amphitheatre for cultural performances
- Outdoor exercise equipment
- Extensive grassy areas for picnics and recreational use
- Wheelchair access to all areas
